Introduction
The aim of the subject is to teach students the basics of obstetrics and gynecology and theoretically and practically prepare them to provide comprehensive care for women in various stages of life, particularly during pregnancy and childbirth. As part of the training in the simulation center, students are given practical skills in gynecological and obstetric examination methods and the management of acute conditions in obstetrics.
What should the student learn
Student will learn the basics of dating pregnancy, examination of pregnant women including determining the cervix score, and making decisions about further pregnancy management. Additionally, they will acquire obstetric techniques used at the end of the second trimester and will practice medical guidance during childbirth, including addressing the most common complications of nature delivery.
Teaching arrangements
The subject takes place in a single 14-day block in the fifth year with mandatory attendance and concludes with a test after the gynecological and obstetric week. It is followed by a 4-week block in the sixth year culminating in a state exam.
Where the lesson is held
Most of the teaching takes place at the GPK FN Plzeň, and further instruction is provided through electronic education available on Moodle. Simulation training currently constitutes a smaller portion of the overall curriculum and occurs on the 5th floor of SIM/PL.
