Introduction

Ultrasound Practicals: Operation of the ultrasound (USG) machine and basics of examination, including abdomen, neck, and vessels, recognition of basic pathologies, and practicing biopsy techniques under USG guidance (two practical sessions, each two hours long). Visit to the ultrasound department at KZM (one two-hour practical session). Interventional Radiology Practicals: Introduction to the basics of vascular interventional procedures and practice of basic skills needed for vascular interventional radiology (two practical sessions, each two hours long). Visit to the interventional radiology department at KZM (one two-hour practical session).

What should the student learn

Ultrasound Practicals: Basics of operating an ultrasound machine, imaging abdominal organs, neck, and vessels. Identification of basic pathologies – tumor, cyst, calculi, cholecystitis, dilation of urinary tracts, aortic aneurysm, ascites. Interventional Radiology Practicals: Introduction of an angiographic catheter, Seldinger technique, catheter manipulation, and post-procedure care.
